Since the multi-layer fluid bed dryer granulator still has shortcomings such as difficult operation, large bed resistance, and complex structure, in order to overcome these shortcomings, a horizontal multi-chamber fluidized bed was developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The equipment is simple in structure and convenient in operation and is suitable for drying various difficult-to-dry powder particles and heat-sensitive materials. It can be said that the horizontal multi-chamber fluidized bed dryer is equivalent to a series system of multiple square interface fluidized beds.

The main features:

(1) Install baffles between adjacent compartments, so that uniform and dry products can be obtained, and the distribution of material residence time is improved;
(2) The cooling and drying of materials can be combined in the same equipment, which simplifies the process and equipment;
(3) Since it is divided into multiple chambers, the air volume of each chamber can be adjusted, and the added baffle can prevent the material from short-circuit discharge.

Applications

This FBD dryer has been popularized quickly in the pharmaceutical industry. At present, dozens of factories use this equipment to dry various tablet granule drugs, powder and granule materials and flake materials.

If the air volume and temperature of each room are adjusted in operation, or the hot air in the last few rooms is reused, or an internal heater is added in the bed, etc., the thermal efficiency can also be improved.
